Frequently Asked
Do I need experience to host Alpha?
No! If you can host a meal, you can host Alpha. The most important thing is to curate a welcoming and low-pressure experience for your guests (and serving a great meal helps too). We have plenty of free resources, training, guides and much more to help you run your best Alpha – register on MyAlpha to access the full suite of resources. Our team is always here to help if you’d like support.
How many people do I need to run Alpha?
You can run Alpha with as few or as many people as you’d like. Depending on the size of your group and number of guests, it can be helpful to have a few people on ‘team’ to facilitate conversations, especially if you have more than one table. You can find more hints and tips for running a great Alpha on MyAlpha.
What if my guests ask hard questions?
While hard questions can be tricky to facilitate at times, they’re more than welcome at Alpha – even encouraged! Hosting Alpha doesn’t mean you have to have all the answers. In fact, running a great Alpha is more about creating a safe space for open discussion where different perspectives are welcome. If your guests come with particularly tricky questions, you can simply acknowledge that you may not have an answer, then explore different perspectives together. Find more hints and tips for facilitating discussion on MyAlpha.
What if no one comes to my Alpha?
To help you spread the word about Alpha, we’ve created a new set of free invitational materials – you can access these here. We also have plenty more resources available when you register your Alpha on MyAlpha. Inviting people to Alpha doesn’t have to be awkward; it’s simply about joining in where the Holy Spirit is already at work, and extending an invitation to share a meal at the table.
