Reaching the Unreached: A Masterclass in Evangelism with Ger Jones

You may not have heard of Ger Jones but there are many reasons why the Ger Jones Masterclass is a ‘not-to-be-missed’ event for church leaders and planters wanting to reach unchurched Australians.

Some of those reasons are:

  • Ger built Vintage Church from scratch to be a thriving church in the Hollywood area by reaching unchurched people with the gospel

  • Having lost most of his congregation during COVID, Ger has now rebuilt Vintage to 150% the size it was before the pandemic

  • Ger is an expert at evangelising in a post-Christian, postmodern environment, and regularly trains others to do the same

  • A Welshman, raised in England (completing a law degree), theologically trained in Canada (Regent College), married to an Australian (Lizzie) and leading a church in the USA - Ger gets cross cultural communication as well as anyone

  • And, for added interest, it was recently announced that John Mark Comer is joining the teaching team of Vintage Church.

About Ger Jones

Ger is from England and was raised in a dynamic Christian home, with a father who was a pastor, church planter and missionary. Upon graduation from high school, Ger felt a strong call to be a ‘missionary in the workplace’, which led him to attend law school in Bristol, England. He began his legal career in London as a corporate lawyer, and for five years embraced the challenge of the legal practice and bringing Christ into his work environment. After marrying Lizzie in 2000 Ger transitioned out of law into brand management with Procter & Gamble relocating to their European head office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Over the course of 2004, God began to stir Ger’s heart towards laying down his career for full-time ministry. At the end of that year, Ger and Lizzie moved with their two small children to seminary at Regent College, Vancouver where Ger could complete his M. Div and train in an interdenominational evangelical context. After graduating, Ger was offered the position of Associate Pastor at Holy Trinity Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. After two years, Ger became the Interim Pastor and began to discern God’s call to plant a church in Los Angeles in order to reach people that others were not reaching. This call was realized in January 2011 when Ger moved with his family (now three children) to Santa Monica where they began the process of planting Vintage Church.

Like most churches, the pandemic hit them hard, with an 88% drop in church attendance in the very transient city of LA. Undeterred, Ger’s strategy was to not focus on trying to get back those that had left. Rather, he saw this as an opportunity to reach those not yet in relationship with Christ. As a result, Vintage Church is now at 150% of pre-pandemic attendance across their four locations.

A master strategist, leader and church builder who skillfully interprets culture and has a heart for the lost, Ger brings his wisdom, proven strategies and practical application to the conversation on evangelism and discipleship.
