...The hinge of human history is consistently the bended knee.
The world changes when God’s people pray."

Prayer lies at the heart of any Alpha Course and at every stage we want to turn to God in prayer. Our hope is that we can mobilise an army of praying people, and as we join together to seek God and advance His Kingdom, we will not only see growth but also depth. Also on these pages are models that are being used around the Alpha community, and we invite you to share the different ways in which you pray for your course or any encouraging stories in which you have seen your prayers answered on or around an Alpha Course.

Our team would love to pray for you, |
Prayer for the work of Alpha in Australia:The Alpha Australia National Office would value your prayers for what is happening in and through our team. We invite you to join with us in our month-by-month praise and prayer points. Prayer for your Alpha Course:Consider the below ideas on how to mobilise people to pray, including these links to a PowerPoint presentation to accompany a suggested agenda for a Prayer & Worship meeting. Praying for Alpha as a church:We have found that an open corporate prayer meeting held weekly on a different day to the Alpha course works well. The agenda covers all areas of the church life, but one of the regular items is prayer for evangelism and Alpha. |

24-7 Prayer:
In some places where Alpha is run, there is a week dedicated to "24-7 Prayer."
City-wide or Region-wide Prayer Meetings:Why not organise an event and invite a number of local churches to come together and pray for your city or region? It's a powerful way of encouraging unity across denominations, and gaining momentum and support for each other.
"Prior to the beginning of the September course one of the highlights for me is our 'Refresh for Alpha' Evening. - Sophie Chapman, Licolnshire |
Here are just a few other ideas that you could use to encourage people to pray:
• Create/sign up for prayer email • Organise/become part of a prayer intercession group that prays on the same evening as the course • Text reminder for prayer points throughout the course • Create a prayer timetable where people can pray wherever they are at certain times of the day • Allocate weeks throughout the course when certain house groups pray for the course • Encourage the youth group to pray creatively for the course
• Consider starting a 24-7 prayer room. • Create prayer bookmarks or cards that people can take away • The Leaders and Helpers Meetings: of course, this is a key time of collective prayer for the leaders and helpers. • For those who are unable to leave their home, organise a small prayer and worship meeting that prays for the course.
Always ensure that when praying for or requesting prayer for someone on the course that guest confidentiality and sensitivity is maintained. |
