Welcome to "Meet Alpha." It's where we, Alpha Australia, get to introduce you to the fantastic people who are involved in Alpha around Australia.
These people are like you and me - helping run The Alpha Course in their local contexts...churches/schools/universities and businesses.
Keep an eye out each month as their stories will definitely be inspirational.
It's just one way that proves how God uses everyone and anyone, and that His intention is for us to work together as the body of Christ.

Name: Tim Giovanelli
Age: 30
What do you do?
Pastor at Northside Baptist Church in Crows Nest, Sydney
Where are you from?
Sydney
(though lived overseas for 6 years during my 20's)
What does your course look like?
Pretty normal church Alpha Course
What's your favourite Alpha Story?
God always uses the Alpha Course to move in people's lives. Jacob works in the music industry as a composer and television sound engineer. He and his wife were sitting opposite our church in a cafe and saw the Alpha banner. He called up and asked if he could come along to the course. Later he told me that his intention was never to become a Christian but to just have a good debate. Week 1 he didn't say much, week 2 a bit more but by week 3 he was in full swing. As he tells it, by week 5 he knew he was going to become a Christian and come to church. Jacob is now an active member of the church and one of his sons is even in our pre-school.
Your first contact with Alpha?
At St Paul's Hammersmith in London - which is a church plant from HTB.
Why do you love The Alpha Course?
Changed lives through the power of the Gospel. And it combines all the things that we want to foster in a church community - friendship, hospitality, discipleship, life!
If you meet anyone ( dead or alive) who would it be?
Bono from U2... oh hang on I already have met him (hung out with him at his studio in Dublin in 2003). But that is a whole another story...
